Are we born for a purpose?

Are we born for a purpose?

We have read in history that  those dictators, Hitler, Stalin, Yakubu Gowon, Mao, etc. killed those who didn’t agree with their views. It is very embarrassing that a political party who claims to stand for the people killed their own member. T.P Chandrasekhar, Kannur, Kerala has become the victim of this inhuman activity. Are we away from nobility and human values? Why do we forget he is a human being? He had the right to live. He had a living wife, and children. He was a brother, son, and a good friend.  Nobility, humanity, and moral values are thrown away to nurture hatred, negative emotions and ego.

If we analyze the psychology behind this, we can understand we are of the belief that 'if we are right others are wrong'. If others do not believe the same way we do, they are considered wrong and treated as our enemy. We won’t respect other person and his views. No mutual respect and discipline. We often forget every person is a product of his own experience. His experience is different than ours. His experience casts his character, views and ideas. It is very rare that two people have the same experience. Even twins don’t have it. If the killer has the right to say he is correct, TP had the right to say he was also right from his experience.

History has proved that what was right once before has become wrong on the next day or later. There was a time we believed earth is flat. There was a time we believed Hitler was right, Stalin was right, Mao was right. Same is the case with scientific theories. There are many mysteries we don't know. Don't boast ourselves "I am right, I know everything" "You are wrong". Knowledge changes, technology changes, philosophy changes, but love, nobility and wisdom remains. Be patient. Respect others. Love others. Are we authorized to take the life of another person?. We have to consider other person's life is precious like ours. When we try to kill others, we often forget what will be our end?

Hatred is slow killer. It increases the stress level and releases stress hormones and change the bio-chemistry. Gradually the cholesterol goes up, followed with high blood pressure, cardiac problems, cancer etc. This is on the individual level. On a community level an national level it will reduce the harmony in society and create civil unrest and retard economic progress. The best medicine for this is love. Imagine Mother Teresa. She loved others with out boundaries. Love others and change your biochemistry and save you from disease. On the other hand save our community too.

We have to learn and practice patience, forgiveness, respect, calmness, and peace. We have to learn love. This is good for our health too. Politics does not mean to consider that the opponent is an enemy. Politics which won’t support morality, nobility and above all love is nothing but vandalism. Are we losing humanity?

A 75 year old mother has told recently “ We, Keralites have  got plenty food, we got big bungalows, our streets are filled with cars. We claim as literate and educated.  There is no deficiency for money. But in many occasions we lack LOVE, tolerance and mental discipline.”

Yes she is right. She got the wisdom of ages. She radiates light to the world. Let us absorb some light and reflect it to others.

The question remains. What is the purpose of our life? Is it to love or to hate and kill?
